In Italy, La festa della donna is typically celebrated by men giving bouquets of mimosas to the special women in their lives. The mimosa was chosen to symbolize the holiday in 1946 by a group of Italian feminists, marking the official first holiday after World War II. The mimosa was especially chosen for its eye-catching hue and fragrant scent.<\/p>\n

As of late, National Women\u2019s Day has become a day for women to celebrate their female friendships and many restaurants and discotheques offer special events throughout the country on this holiday.<\/p>\n
